Q How can we learn to hate the sin and love Piety?
A It is actually a feeling of heart. Noble Company of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H infused this feeling in the hearts and souls of all companions of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H. That is why Prophets are referred to as “Masoom” meaning  innocent because they commit no sin. Similarly companions of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H are called “Mahfooz” meaning   protected. Allah protected them from sins by creating a feeling of revulsion for sins in their hearts. This feeling urged them to be pious and spread piety. This feeling became as a part of their nature as natural urges of hunger etc. That is why all companions of Holy Prophet P.B.U.H are called “Aadil” or ‘Just’. This was a blessing of Allah and a reflection of Prophetic blessings that they received.

Similarly Aulia Allah, people with a deep relationship with Allah, are also blessed by Allah with such a protection from sins. In case they are exposed to sin; they suddenly feel aversion for it. Incase an opportunity to do any good arises; they feel an urge to do it. It is a kind of spiritual feeling and what creates this feeling is a person’s own sincere love for Allah. Deeper one’s sincerity towards Allah, stronger this spiritual feeling. Such a feeling is indeed a blessing of Allah and a reflection of Prophetic blessings.
